W&A is working with a global manufacturing business based in the Borders to help source a Technical Accountant.
The successful candidate will act as a Business Partner providing technical accounting guidance across financial accounting, control, and tax compliance. Furthermore, you will participate in continuous improvement and strategic initiative activities optimizing opportunities within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical guidance into the integrity, accuracy and compliance regarding accounting, treasury management and taxation
To provide the relevant technical expertise, ensuring compliance with all matters relating to VAT
Support and provide guidance to the Payroll function ensuring accuracy and compliance with current taxation law
Serve as a liaison with the external auditors
Responsible for coordinating and reviewing SOX controls and narratives to ensure they are in compliance with US GAAP
Prepares and/or coordinate detailed working papers to support balance sheet disclosures included within the financial statements as part of the close process
Review weekly and month end journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and analyse general ledger accounts for accuracy, extraordinary or unusual items
To prepare and liaise with advisors in the preparation of Secondee Income Tax
Support and advise on Corporation tax returns
To provide the relevant technical expertise and assistance, ensuring the appropriate compliance with all accounting standards (including US GAAP) required to provide a true and fair view of the financial position
Minimal travel may be required to meet the needs of the business
Required Skills & Abilities:
Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
Proficient in excel
Up-to-date technical knowledge in the fields of UK GAAP, audit, tax, VAT etc.
The ability to recognise the technical implications (accounting/VAT/tax) of transactions or other events
Excellent communication skills
High attention to detail
The ability to work to strict time deadlines
