This part-time Senior Technical Accountant opportunity offers the chance to shape group accounting policy, support high-profile reporting decisions and work on intellectually demanding accounting issues within a large, diverse financial services environment.

The Opportunity

This is a specialist role sitting within Group Finance, supporting external reporting for a listed group. The successful individual will work closely with senior stakeholders on complex accounting questions, new products, transactions and regulatory developments, while helping ensure reporting remains robust, auditable and aligned to evolving standards. It is particularly well suited to a technically strong qualified accountant who enjoys analysing complex issues, forming clear positions and translating technical guidance into practical business advice.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical accounting analysis on the IFRS and Solvency II treatment of new products, transactions and strategic initiatives.
  • Assess the impact of new and emerging accounting standards on group results, supporting implementation activity across the business.
  • Prepare high-quality technical papers and reporting analyses for IFRS and Solvency II matters.
  • Support production of the Group IFRS financial statements, including ownership of selected notes to the accounts to auditable standards.
  • Maintain and communicate allocated sections of the Group Accounting Manual and related accounting policies.
  • Partner with external auditors and internal finance teams to resolve technical reporting matters on a timely basis.
  • Contribute technical input to new transactions, restructurings and group reorganisations.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified accountant with at least three years’ post-qualified experience in technical accounting or financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, with good understanding of Solvency II reporting requirements advantageous
  • Experience interpreting complex transactions and determining appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting regulation and broader legislative frameworks relevant to a regulated financial services environment.
  • Ability to produce clear, well-reasoned technical analysis and communicate conclusions to a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience within life and pensions, insurance, asset management or a similarly regulated financial services setting would be advantageous.
