Senior Accountant - Statutory Reporting - Edinburgh

Wilkinson & Associates is working with an acquisitive asset management organisation based in Edinburgh. They have an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join their financial reporting team.

The team is responsible for the financial reporting for the main trading entities, providing balance sheet financial control and working closely with other areas of Finance, ensuring relationships and high service levels are maintained and enhanced.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong technical ability to develop in a stimulating work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with external auditors for semi-annual audits and regular profit verifications including responding to information requests, queries and justifying accounting treatment adopted
  • Monthly postings into accounting general ledger as part of the month end process
  • Responsible for the monthly statutory cost allocation and regular review of drivers in Hyperion
  • Supporting the financial control of the Group entities including performing reconciliations where the team has responsibility
  • Review of reconciliations from the wider finance team and considering the integrity of ledger postings for the entities you are responsible for
  • Developing a close working relationship with the wider finance team
  • Preparing regular board reports
  • IFRS technical support including preparing technical papers for new accounting standard adoption, becoming a subject matter expert and supporting the wider finance team with implementation and review
  • Responding to queries and supporting the tax team with various financial reporting matters; providing technical advice when required
  • Review and development of processes and procedures to accommodate business changes and for the enhancement of gaps in financial controls
  • Regular review of work completed by direct report including annual statutory accounts, monthly profit verification workbooks and board papers
  • Responsible for mentoring support, training, career development and appraisals for direct report.
  • Keep up to date with the latest accounting and business developments

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Qualified accountant, preferably with PQE in a financial reporting environment
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS
  • Strong excel knowledge
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to build good relationships internally and externally
  • Able to use intuitive to solve problems
  • Maintain own professional competence
  • Have excellent technical ability
