Newly Qualified Accountant - Edinburgh

W&A is partnering with a technology consulting firm in Edinburgh as they seek to hire a Newly Qualified Accountant. 

This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is responsible for a comprehensive suite of financial management responsibilities. 

The role holder will act as a critical financial partner for the business, providing detailed financial reports and analysis that offer insights to influence strategic planning and decision-making.  

This role is ideally suited to newly qualified accountants seeking a varied role where they can add value and help drive business growth. If you have trained in audit and / or accounts preparation and would like to further develop your management accounting, analysis and financial reporting skills – this could be the role for you! 

Role Profile: 

• Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and financial planning, ensuring financial stability 
• Ensure adherence to UK accounting standards and laws; prepare and present accurate financial reports  
• Provide insightful financial analysis and advice to the CFO and management team to support the company's strategic goals and growth 
• Identify financial risks and opportunities 
• Manage payroll processing, invoice creation, and tax preparations, ensuring accuracy and compliance  
• Serve as a strategic financial partner to the commercial team, coordinating pre-sales resource allocation, managing and analyzing sales data and KPIs, and refining revenue forecasts to support sales targets and company growth 
• Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow, ensuring there are sufficient funds  
• Lead the preparation and coordination of internal and external audit processes  
• Oversee the management of ad-hoc financial operations 
• Contribute to the formulation of financial and business strategies, using financial insights to guide long-term growth and profitability 

Essential Skills and Competencies: 

• Qualified accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) 
• Candidates having trained and qualified in practice or industry are invited to apply

• Strong control framework mindset with a sound understanding of business processes and finance systems    
• Able to work in an entrepreneurial environment 
• Strong reporting and analytical skills with a high attention to detail and focus on meeting stakeholder needs
