Management Accountant - Edinburgh

Wilkinson & Associates are delighted to be working exclusively with an Edinburgh based manufacturing organisation as they look to appoint a Management Accountant.

The Management Accountant will report to the Financial Controller and will take ownership of the monthly reporting and the forward looking performance of the site. The role will require a commercially astute individual with the ability to build relationships with the business and provide first class analysis.

The Role

• Reports to the Finance Director 
• Reporting internally on customer and product stream profitability
• Reporting to Group on monthly performance
• Regular forecasting of short-term Profit & Loss outlook
• Financial risk management inclusive of costing systems and currency planning
• Recommending and implementing continual improvements to the Management Accounting Systems and Finance Function processes
• Supporting the wider group’s subsidiary’s Management Accounting System development

Key Duties include

• Monthly reporting of the relevant P&L & KPI performance measures to Directors and Senior Management including variance analysis 
• Responsible for all month-end reporting both to internal and external executives
• Calculations for Rebate agreements and liaison with Sales for relevant promotional and contribution accruals
• Setting, monitoring and maintaining relevant Standard Costs inclusive of variance analysis
• Department overhead reporting and ad-hoc cost analysis
• Financial modelling and support with Budgets and Forecasting processes inclusive of liaising with stakeholders
• Work to continuously improve internal controls and procedures within the Finance Function with focus on the costing of the products and profitability
• Reviewing and authorising relevant payments on banking systems in line with company Delegation of Authority
• Review and improvement in service providers to the Finance Team and business
• Assisting management of cash flow especially debtors’ receipts and overdues

Profile

• Qualified or qualified by experience Accountant 
• Minimum 2 years experience of producing Management Accounts
• Knowledge of Costing and Variance Analysis would be desirable
• Advanced excel skills for analysis purposes
• Strong communication skills and a highly organised approach to work
• A keen eye for detail and ability to recognise trends and key variances
• Strong systems knowledge and ability to extract, analyse, format and upload data efficiently
• An active interest in general business markets and current affairs
• Adaptable to support other team members within Finance

This role is based on site 5 days per week. There is parking for staff at the office.
