W&A is supporting a leading legal firm as they seeking to hire a dynamic Management Accountant to take on a high-profile role within their finance team. 

Working out of central Edinburgh (hybrid), your role will have a lot of autonomy, from preparing monthly management accounts to leading on implementing and improving the organisation's current systems and processes.  

This is a critical role within a thriving business well suited to a newly qualified accountant from either practice or industry seeking a hands-on role.  

About You: 

  • Professionally qualified accountant

  • Accuracy and attention to detail 

  • Intermediate to Advanced user of MS Excel 

  • Aptitude for learning and researching new efficiency and reporting software tools 

  • Bring constructive challenge to ways of working, improvement and efficiency recommendations 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary 

  • Weekly KPI reporting for Management Board 

  • Preparation and review of cashflows and forecast requirements 

  • Treasury management 

  • Assisting the preparation of budgets 

  • Maintenance of partner accounts 

  • Preparation and review of financial controls - reconciliations, fixed asset register 

  • Preparation of quarterly VAT return 

  • Preparation of annual accounts and assisting with audit process 

  • Managing the firm’s various group entities 

  • Management of the firm’s Work In Progress and analysis/reporting thereon 

  • Ad hoc research on technical accounting and tax matters  

  • Review of monthly payroll including pension contributions and other benefits 

  • Understand and process set up changes to the firm’s payroll system 

  • Provide coaching and guidance to the more junior members of the team
