Management Accountant - Edinburgh

£40,000 - £45,000 - Professional Services - Qualified Accountancy & Finance

W&A is working with an award-winning and highly regarded law practice based in Edinburgh. We’ve been engaged to help source a Management Accountant to join their small team.  

Our client supports a hybrid working model with an office / remote split working week.  

This role will support the Financial Controller in a range of financial and operational areas including, financial accounting, payroll related matters, partner taxation, IT systems / processes and compliance matters.  

This is an excellent opportunity for recently qualified accountant with a keen eye for detail to build new skills and develop in a varied industry role. Applicants seeking to make their first move out of practice are encouraged to apply.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary 

  • KPI reporting for Management Board 

  • Maintenance of partner accounts 

  • Preparation and review of financial controls  

  • Quarterly VAT return 

  • Preparation of annual budgets. annual accounts and liaison with external auditors 

  • Ad hoc research on technical accounting and tax matters  

  • Review of monthly payroll including pension contributions and other benefits 

  • Preparation of annual PAYE Settlement Agreement and P11D information 

  • Preparation and review of cashflows and forecast requirements 

  • Treasury management 

  • Assistance with the preparation of annual partnership tax return 

  • Assistance and support with the implementation of a new financial accounting system 

  • Assistance with the preparation of Law Society half-year returns
