Interim Finance Manager - Fife

£275 - £300 Per Day (Inside IR35) - Manufacturing / Engineering / Production - Qualified Accountancy & Finance

Role Overview

  • Title: Interim Finance Contractor (to cover parental leave)
  • Location: Fully remote with occasional travel to Falkirk site desirable but not essential
  • Working Arrangement:
    • Full-time during initial handover (starting ASAP and before end of August latest)
    • During parental leave (6 weeks): contractor works full-time (likely mid-October to early December)
    • Post-leave: job share basis from around early December, 2 or 3 days per week as preferred
  • Contract Duration: Approx. 6–7 months in total

Team & Reporting Structure

  • Line Management:
    • Reports to UK CEO
    • Indirect reporting to CFO of European parent
  • Collaboration:
    • Works closely with sales team (for AR)
    • Interfaces with external payroll and VAT firms

Role Purpose

  • Maintain and oversee end-to-end finance function:
    • Monthly management accounts (primary deliverable)
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to group-level CFOs
    • Support cash flow monitoring and reporting (bi-monthly)
    • Support AP/AR, payroll coordination and VAT submissions
    • NetSuite is the main finance system

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Strong management accounting and month-end close experience
  • Ability to independently manage finance function of a small company
  • Comfortable preparing and commenting on written financial reports
  • Familiarity with AP/AR processes and cash flow reporting
  • Confident in remote communication via Teams
  • Able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Experience with standalone finance roles or in SMEs
  • Available for full-time handover period starting  asap or before late August
  • Resiliance and initiative required

Desirable

  • Experience with NetSuite (ERP)
  • Background in manufacturing or inventory (particularly FIFO valuation)
  • Previous exposure to payroll and VAT
  • Experience in contract or interim roles
  • Familiarity with remote, multi-national group structures (English business language)
