Head of Client Accounting - Central Scotland

Wilkinson and Associates are delighted to be working exclusively with an established UK business based in Stirling as they look to recruit a Head of Client Accounting.

The Head of Client Accounting will play a pivotal role in providing accounting services to c. 200 of the businesses managed clients. Managing a team of 10 and reporting directly to the Finance Director.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing technical expertise and advice in respect of accounting, VAT and payroll matters arising
• Client management and year end reporting
• Management reporting, including budgets and cashflows
• VAT return sign off and managing VAT inspections on behalf of clients
• Employee training, development and retention
• Manage client and internal relations
• First line of support for Client Accounts Managers
• Staff training, development and performance check ins
• Staff retention and recruitment
• Maintenance and development of client accounting systems and best practice procedures
• Day to day maintenance of client banking platforms
• Business development and new job pricing
• Maintaining client and wider rural team relationships; proactively supporting the wider rural surveying team and client base
• Training clients and surveyors

Background and Experience

• An accountancy qualification: CA, ACCA, CIMA with at least 5 years’ experience
• At least 2 years’ experience of managing a team
• Experience in management accounts, payroll and VAT.  Exposure to VAT partial exemption rules would be beneficial
• Systems experience, preferably Xero and Sage Payroll
• Excellent excel skills
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Confidence, be approachable and calm under pressure
• Superior organisational skills

This is a hybrid opportunity with 3 days in the office and 2 from home.
