W&A are currently recruiting a Group Financial Controller for a large, well-known international manufacturing company based in Edinburgh.

As Group Financial Controller, you will be based at the heart of the organisation, leading a global finance function, ensuring strong financial control in this multi-jurisdiction group, streamlining their financial accounting and driving standardisation while providing the leadership team with accurate, real-time financial data that will fuel strategic growth and operational excellence.

This is an excellent opportunity to combine strong financial accounting and control experience with commercial acumen, working with senior stakeholders across the Group to build a best-in-class function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Group statutory account preparation under IFRS
  • Leading on group and subsidiary audits
  • Monthly group consolidation and close review
  • Managing certain lender reporting requirements
  • Review Group overheads in terms of actuals / forecast / budget
  • Assisting the review of group balance sheet and highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Business partnering with business units across the globe, treasury, IT and FP&A teams. Hands on supporting business units as required.
  • Liaising with tax and other external advisors
  • Provision of finance support on a variety of group projects
  • Reviewing and developing key business processes
  • Managing and developing a small finance team

About You

  • Applicants must hold a full Professional Accountancy Qualification - CA/ACA/ACCA
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong experience in a similar field post qualification
  • Ability to build rapport and effective working relationships with individuals at all levels within an organisation
  • Experience of group consolidation accounting is essential
  • Ownership of key technical areas including the likes of IFRS 9, IFRS 15, IFRS 16, impairment reviews and IAS 19
  • Experience in multi-currency consolidation and foreign currency accounting
  • Previous experience in financial processes and controls, and a track record of continuous improvement
  • Experience or desire to manage and develop individuals
  • Excellent communication, adaptability, resilience and relationship building skills
  • Solid organisation, time management and prioritisation skills
