Financial Controller - 9 Month FTC - West Lothian

W&A is partnering with an FMCG business to recruit a Financial Controller on an initial nine-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a broad senior finance role with responsibility across financial control, management reporting, planning, cash flow and team leadership, alongside regular exposure to the executive team.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Finance Director, you will act as a senior point of support across the finance function and as deputy when required. The remit spans month-end and Group reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow, banking, audit, statutory and compliance activity, alongside ongoing improvement to finance processes, systems and data quality.

You will also have direct reports across management accounting, commercial finance and accounts payable, with scope to coach the team while providing clear financial information and analysis to support business performance and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver weekly and monthly reporting across sales, operations, cost centres, customers, sites and territories, including P&L analysis and presentations.
• Own month-end delivery and financial controls, including trial balance review, journals, accruals, fixed assets, intercompany and balance sheet integrity.
• Lead annual P&L and cash flow budgets, quarterly re-forecasts and weekly cash flow forecasting, highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Deliver accurate monthly Group reporting and support ad hoc requests from senior leadership.
• Lead the annual audit, statutory reporting, tax, VAT, filings and supporting audit evidence.
• Manage the banking relationship and oversee debt covenant compliance.
• Improve finance processes, reporting, systems and data quality through simplification and automation.
• Lead, coach and develop the finance team, and attend executive meetings as required.

What You’ll Bring

• ACCA, ICAS, CIMA or ACA qualification.
• Previous Financial Planning & Analysis experience and experience within FMCG.
• Strong experience across month-end, reconciliations, audit, financial controls and balance sheet review.
• Good budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, financial analysis and modelling capability.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to present financial information clearly.
• Manufacturing finance experience would be advantageous.
• ERP/SAP experience, team management and coaching experience would also be beneficial.

Package & Benefits

• Salary: £80,000–£85,000.
