Are you an experienced Financial Controller ready to shape the finance function of a high-growth consumer business?

We’re supporting a dynamic and fast-scaling organisation in the consumer products sector to appoint a Financial Controller in a newly created role. Operating fully remotely with occasional travel to London and Edinburgh (and the option to work weekly from an Edinburgh office if preferred), this position offers the opportunity to play a central role in strengthening financial operations during a period of sustained growth.

Initially offered as a 3–6 month contract, there is strong potential for the role to convert to permanent, with immediate permanent consideration for the right individual.

 

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on and commercially focused Financial Controller position, working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team. You’ll take ownership of core finance processes, ensure robust reporting and controls are in place, and provide the insight needed to support strategic and operational decision-making.

The business is entering an exciting growth phase, and this role will be instrumental in building scalable, efficient systems while maintaining accuracy and integrity across all financial activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate product costing to support informed pricing and commercial decisions
  • Partner with the management team on pricing strategy and profitability analysis
  • Develop and maintain timely, meaningful and concise monthly management reporting
  • Prepare KPIs, stock reports, accruals and prepayments for monthly accounts
  • Manage debtors, cash flow and invoice finance facilities
  • Oversee inventory reporting, including third-party stock records
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Manage payroll processes
  • Coordinate royalty reporting for licensors
  • Liaise with insurers regarding cover updates
  • Work closely with head office and external professional advisers
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve profitability and financial performance

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Recognised accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role within a similar product-based or consumer business
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to influence pricing and profitability decisions
  • Experience managing inventory, stock reporting and invoice finance arrangements
  • High level of proficiency in Excel and experience with Xero
  • Strong attention to detail with a conscientious and professional approach
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with senior stakeholders

 

Package & Benefits

  • £65,000–£70,000 (depending on experience)
  • Fully remote working with occasional travel to London and Edinburgh
  • Option to work weekly from an Edinburgh office if desired
  • Initial 3–6 month contract with strong potential to convert to permanent
  • Permanent appointment may be considered immediately for the right candidate
