Finance Manager - East Lothian

£50,000 - £60,000 - Financial Services - Qualified Accountancy & Finance

W&A is partnering with a highly-regarded boutique scaled asset management firm to help source a Finance Manager.

Based on the east side of Edinburgh, the company operates a hybrid working model.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the role is responsible for efficiently delivering the day-to-day running of the finance team by line managing two staff.

This role will be key to improving the current processes in the business, with a view to enhancing data analysis and insight across the company.

The finance function faces-off to all areas of the company, as such the role will be involved in representing finance as part of inter-departmental strategic projects and initiatives.

Role Profile:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Management of monthly purchase ledger and payment runs
  • Management of purchase and expenses systems and controls 
  • Preparing internal management information and reporting
  • Enhancing cash forecasting
  • Assisting with preparation of annual budget
  • Oversight of outsourced fund accounting function
  • Approval of interim and final fund financial statements
  • Preparation of schedules and supporting docs for annual statutory audits
  • Processing of, and improving controls of monthly private client fees/downloads
  • Assisting with monthly funds under management analysis
  • Assisting with preparation of quarterly VAT returns
  • Contributing to and managing departmental risk register
  • Performing daily reconciliations between internal and third party systems
  • Cover for oversight of corporate dealing and unit trust client money accounts

Required Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant, ideally with some post-qualified experience in a similar remit
  • Previous experience of the financial services sector is advantageous
  • Confident with paperless / integrated work flows for approvals/payments
  • Prior experience of creating efficiencies and process improvements
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Confidence of working with finance, payments and banking systems
  • Proven MS Excel skills and practical experience
  • Commercial mindset
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work to a high standard of accuracy
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Comfortable with all forms of reconciliation
  • Organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks
  • Team worker with proactive flexible approach
  • Good communication, both written and oral
