ACCOUNTANCY & FINANCE RECRUITMENT
Wilkinson & Associates are partnering with a well-established, international business with a major operational site on the west side of Edinburgh to hire a Finance Business Partner into its operations finance team.
This is a hands-on role sitting close to operational stakeholders across a busy environment. You’ll help leaders understand performance drivers, improve reporting output and provide meaningful challenge, while keeping the core finance basics tight.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will act as a trusted finance contact for parts of the operation. The focus is on improving the clarity and usefulness of reporting and ensuring outputs are accurate, timely and linked to real performance drivers.
You do not need to come from a like-for-like sector. The key is strong finance fundamentals, the confidence to engage operational stakeholders, and a mindset geared towards ownership and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
Support the production of month-end reporting for key operational areas, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely and well understood
Help manage a clear monthly reporting timetable (month-end and wider reporting requirements)
Prepare and develop KPI reporting and performance commentary for senior finance leadership
Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed, reviewed and actioned in line with deadlines
Support the year-end audit process for the operational area, coordinating and owning relevant outputs
Contribute to budgeting and reforecast cycles, supporting performance monitoring and analysis
Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, timeliness and controls
Support Capex reporting and ad hoc analysis as required
What they’re looking for
Qualified accountant (CA / ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) - essential
Strong all-round finance fundamentals with the ability to take ownership of core reporting and controls
Evidence of stakeholder-facing work - able to build trust, communicate clearly and influence non-finance colleagues
Commercial curiosity - someone who looks for the story behind the numbers and can link reporting to operational performance
Confident working in a hands-on environment where priorities can shift and you need to balance detail with pace
A proactive mindset and willingness to roll sleeves up, improve how things are done and keep standards high
Comfortable learning a specialist operational environment - they are not expecting prior sector experience
Organised, dependable and able to manage competing deadlines without needing close supervision
Package and benefits
£55,000-£60,000 base salary (flex depending on experience)
Bonus
Generous holiday allowance
Employer pension (c.9%)
Hybrid working (typically up to 2 days from home, but stakeholder-driven)
Why consider it?
If you enjoy being close to the operational side of a business and want a role where you can build relationships, improve reporting and use finance to support better decisions, this is a strong move. It’s high visibility, commercially minded, and offers genuine scope to grow.
