Finance Business Partner - Edinburgh

W&A is working with a global manufacturer based near Edinburgh to help source a Finance Business Partner.  

This is a new role for the structure and therefore offers the jobholder the platform to install processes and shape the outputs.  

The business partner’s key purpose is to improve the impact and understanding of financial reporting on business performance by using financial analysis to support the relevant operational area to drive change.   

This includes but is not limited to, actuals reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and providing analysis and insight that links financial reports to business performance.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Regularly review financial performance with department heads, providing analysis as required but also challenging and holding stakeholders to account 

  • The formalising of a monthly reporting timetable covering month end and all other reporting requirements 

  • Preparation and development of the monthly KPI reporting pack for the Finance Manager 

  • Support the Finance Director and business during the budget and reforecast cycles, monitoring performance and undertaking further analysis and review  

  • Identifying and driving to completion areas for improvement across all processes with a focus on improving the timing and accuracy of finance outputs 

  • Support Finance Manager with Capex reporting 

  • Overview and production of month end management accounts 

  • Ensuring all reconciliations are completed and reviewed in line with the monthly timetable and any corrective action is resolved in a timely manner 

  • Deliver a clean year-end audit with ownership of outputs liaising with auditors as required 

Require Skills & Attributes: 

  • Qualified accountant. However, candidates in the latter stages of completing a professional accounting qualification, that can demonstrate relevant experience, will also be considered.  

  • Highly proficient user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint 

  • A track record in delivering continuous improvement across all processes  

  • A team player able to get buy in from stakeholders and build strong relationships within the business and with external parties 

  • Ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines 

  • Clear and proactive communicator 

  • Can work proactively without supervision 

  • Strong technical experience and keeps knowledge up to date 

  • Thrives on change and questions the status quo
