Finance Analyst - Edinburgh

W&A is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing financial services organisation in Edinburgh to appoint a Finance Analyst who will play a key role within its FP&A and Business Intelligence function.

Based in Edinburgh, this is a hybrid opportunity offering exposure to senior stakeholders, board-level reporting and commercially focused financial analysis within a dynamic banking environment.

The Opportunity

This role sits within the Finance team, supporting both FP&A and BI. It combines commercial accounting, financial planning and analysis, and data-driven business intelligence, offering broad exposure across performance reporting, modelling and strategic insight.

Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will play an important role in producing high-quality reporting and delivering financial insight that supports decision-making. You will be involved in preparing monthly management information, contributing to quarterly board packs and providing analysis that helps explain business performance.

The role offers excellent exposure to senior stakeholders and is well suited to an early to mid part-qualified finance professional looking to develop their business partnering, reporting and analytical skills within a collaborative finance environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare daily and weekly reporting to support deposit and lending performance monitoring

• Support the production of monthly FP&A management reporting and management accounts

• Assist in delivering performance insights, including variance analysis against budget and forecast

• Provide clear commentary and financial insight to support decision-making across the business

• Deliver ad hoc scenario analysis, sensitivities and financial modelling to support commercial decisions

• Maintain and enhance financial models, ensuring appropriate controls and documentation are in place

• Support BI-led projects by providing financial insight, modelling and analytical support

• Contribute to the development of reporting solutions in Power BI and Oracle Analytics Server

• Build strong working relationships across departments, acting as a finance contact for reporting and analysis

What You’ll Bring

• Studying towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA / CIMA / CA or equivalent)

• Early to mid stage experience within a finance or FP&A environment

• Previous experience within financial services is advantageous

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate it into meaningful insight

• Experience supporting management reporting or performance reporting processes

• Advanced Excel skills with strong data manipulation capability

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

• A proactive and organised approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities

• Confident communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across the business

• High level of integrity when handling sensitive and confidential data

• Exposure to Power BI, Oracle Analytics Server, Power Query, SQL or Python would be beneficial
