Finance Analyst - Central Scotland

W&A is partnering with a leading professional services firm as they seek a Finance Analyst, where you’ll play a key role in delivering insight, supporting decision-making, and driving financial performance across the business. 

The role is based in Edinburgh and offers a hybrid working model, blending in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. 

The Opportunity 

As Finance Analyst, you’ll be responsible for providing high-quality analysis and management information to support the firm’s strategic and operational goals. Working closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider business, you’ll contribute to reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and pricing, while also assisting with compliance and partner-related financial matters.  

This role is well suited to part qualified accountants (study support offered) or a transactional finance candidate looking to make their next step in their career. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Prepare month-end management reports, quarterly reporting, and ad hoc analysis for partners, fee earners, and the finance team. 

  • Deliver projects throughout the year as well as one-off reporting requests. 

  • Create, maintain, and enhance financial models and schedules, producing clear written reports for management. 

  • Analyse financial performance across divisions, partner groups, teams, locations, clients, and sectors. 

  • Support payroll preparation on a monthly basis. 

  • Assist with statutory reporting requirements, including corporate and partnership tax and VAT compliance. 

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data covering rates, utilisation, realisation, budgets, and headcount.

  • Previous experience in a finance role, with strong analytical and reporting skills 

  • High attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain finance to non-finance colleagues. 

  • Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information. 

  • A proactive, career-minded attitude with the ambition to learn and progress.
