Accounts Supervisor : Permanent Opportunity : Flexible Working 

Working Hours 9am-5pm : Salary £35,000 - £40,000 doe 

W&A are delighted to be partnering with thriving and award winning UK Group in Edinburgh to help source an Accounts Supervisor.  

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Supervisor supports the day to day transactional and financial management of the business.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the month end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliations and reporting 

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts with a focus on actual to budget and commentary on variances 

  • Organise and prepare for annual audit, including assisting in the preparation of draft accounts and assisting with the audit process 

  • Daily management of cashflow, cash posting and tracking 

  • Responsible for the day to day decisions in relation to client finance questions  

  • Responsible for finance journals and review of the purchase ledger and sales ledger 

  • Review purchase invoices prior to payment and responsible for processing the weekly payment runs and team expenses 

  • Work with the finance team to link the credit control activities with the monthly reporting 

  • Calculate VAT payable, ensuring accurate and timely VAT submission 

  • Advise the team on VAT treatment of any applicable expenses or income streams 

  • Work closely with tax advisors to ensure an accurate Corporation Tax submission 

  • Liaise with HMRC as necessary in relation to any tax compliance matters 

  • Prepare the monthly payroll for, utilising the external payroll providers system, ensuring it is accurate and reconciled 

  • Review all work and help train Finance Assistant 

  • Support decisions by the wider finance team on client queries, including cancellations and outstanding debt 

About you: 

  • Part Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA or CIMA) or Qualified by Experience 

  • Be of high integrity and honesty 

  • Proven experience of effective and timely reporting of financial information 

  • High attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision 

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively 

  • Excellent / effective communication skills with an ability to communicate with a broad range of people 

  • Good people management skills desirable
