W&A is supporting an established organisation based just outside of Edinburgh to recruit an Accounts Assistant who will work closely with the Finance Business Partner and wider AP team. This opportunity would suit someone organised, accurate and comfortable managing a varied transactional finance workload.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on role with exposure across accounts payable and wider finance operations. You’ll help keep supplier accounts, expenses, payment activity and intercompany recharges accurate and up to date, while also contributing to month-end and year-end processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process invoices and check supplier statements.
  • Handle supplier queries and complete supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Ensure purchase ledger payments are allocated correctly.
  • Process credit card and cash expenses.
  • Prepare and post month-end credit card accruals and reconcile credit card accounts.
  • Provide daily bank balance updates for each company.
  • Raise ad-hoc payments as required.
  • Process intercompany recharge invoices.
  • Support year-end finance processes.
  • Assist the AP Team Leader with BACS runs, international payments and other payment activity.
  • Provide additional finance support and complete ad-hoc tasks as required.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous finance experience is preferred.
  • Good Excel skills are required, alongside general computer literacy.
  • Working knowledge of Great Plains would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistently accurate approach to processing source documents.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Clear and concise communication skills across different levels of the business.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to adapt to and embrace change.
  • Credibility, professionalism and a dependable approach when sharing financial information.
  • No specific academic qualification is required for this role.

Package

  • Salary of £25,000–£30,000, dependent on experience.
