A great opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional to join a well-established business and play a key role in the day-to-day running of a busy finance function. Based in Glenrothes, this permanent, full-time Accounts Assistant position offers the chance to gain broad exposure across purchase ledger, sales ledger, and cash processes while supporting accurate and efficient financial operations.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Assistant will support core finance activities and help ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data. This role will work across multiple areas of the finance function, contributing to smooth day-to-day operations and supporting month-end processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Own the transactional function, leading on innovative ways of improving ways of working.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes, resolving discrepancies where required.
  • Maintain supplier accounts and reconcile supplier statements regularly.
  • Prepare and process supplier payment runs.
  • Raise sales invoices and credit notes in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate customer accounts and support credit control activities where required.
  • Allocate customer receipts and resolve invoice queries or misallocations.
  • Perform daily bank and cash reconciliations across accounts.
  • Post relevant journals and monitor cash movements.
  • Assist with petty cash and expense processing in line with company policies.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
  • Good understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliation processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
