W&A is supporting a well-established organisation based in Stirling to appoint an Accounts Assistant. This is an office-based opportunity at their headquarters, ideal for a part-qualified or early-career finance professional who wants to build strong technical foundations while working alongside experienced finance leaders.

 

The Opportunity

This is far more than a transactional role. You’ll support the Assistant Accountant and Financial Controllers across core accounting processes, gaining valuable exposure to month-end, compliance and reporting. It’s an excellent platform for someone studying (or planning to study) AAT, ACCA or CIMA who is ready to step up and broaden their experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily bank reconciliations
  • Support weekly cashflow forecasting
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations
  • Post monthly journals
  • Maintain the fixed asset ledger and process depreciation
  • Carry out monthly ledger reconciliations
  • Prepare and submit monthly CIS returns
  • Raise and post sales ledger invoices, resolving unallocated cash
  • Verify bank details ahead of weekly payment runs
  • Collate information for PSA submissions
  • Prepare monthly inter-sector settlements
  • Assist with quarterly VAT returns
  • Support accruals, prepayments and audit requirements
  • Contribute to ad hoc finance projects as needed

 

About You

  • Experience within a finance function, ideally in an Accounts Assistant or similar role
  • Studying towards (or keen to begin) a recognised accounting qualification, or qualified by experience
  • Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core accounting principles
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive, organised approach
  • Confident using Excel and finance systems
  • A positive team player who is eager to learn and develop
