Accounts Assistant - Central Scotland

W&A is supporting a well-established organisation with a strong presence in its sector, seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its Group Finance team based in Stirling. This is a hybrid role offering exposure across multiple entities and the chance to develop core accounting skills within a supportive environment.

The Opportunity
This role has evolved from a traditional Accounts Assistant position into a broader Assistant Accountant opportunity, with increased responsibility around month-end and financial reporting. You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager, gaining hands-on experience across core finance processes while contributing to the accuracy and integrity of financial information.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of month-end accounts, including reconciliations and journal postings
• Maintain the purchase ledger, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner
• Assist with the preparation and distribution of monthly sales invoices and intercompany recharges
• Post daily bank transactions and perform regular bank reconciliations
• Prepare BACS payment runs and set up payments for authorisation
• Process employee expenses and reconcile company credit cards on a monthly basis
• Ensure supplier bank details are maintained and up to date
• Provide ad hoc support across the finance function as required

What You’ll Bring

• Experience working within a busy finance function, ideally with exposure to month-end processes
• Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
• Good working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office
• Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities
• A proactive approach with a willingness to take on increased responsibility
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
