Senior Finance Analyst - Edinburgh

£45,000 - £55,000 - Transport / Distribution - Qualified Accountancy & Finance

W&A is delighted to be working with one of the UK’s top performing companies in Edinburgh to help source a Senior Finance Analyst.  

This role will be the lead management accountant and finance business partner, working with key stakeholders to help drive the business forward by producing month-end results, managing the planning (including at least one forecast and annual budget), and reporting output. 

Additionally, the role holder will produce all commercial pricing activity and manage two direct reports to help deliver all the above. 

This is an excellent opportunity for recently qualified accountants with a desire to develop and succeed in rapidly evolving company. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Business partner all key stakeholders including the Managing Director, Commercial Director and Operations Director where relevant providing both decision support and financial challenge 

  • Support the Express Finance Manager in the delivery of the team objectives including delivery of all planning and reporting requirements 

  • Provide timely management information and analysis (including detailed modelling) for decision support purposes  

  • Finance contact for key internal stakeholders, providing periodic financial reporting and support including KPI reporting  

  • Deliver the reporting and planning cycle ensuring outputs are all produced to agreed timetables  

  • Analyse and report on contract profitability with focus on commercial terms and operational efficiencies in order to drive profitability  

  • Monitor variances to budget/forecast for both revenue and costs and provide proactive recommendations to enhance financial performance  

  • Improve the processes and procedures involved in reporting   

Required Skills & Experience: 

  • Qualified accountant with post qualification experience preferred  

  • A strong focus on organisation and delivery to agreed timetables  

  • Strong attention to detail  

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate across all areas and levels of a business  

  • Comfortable with working to changing business priorities  

  • Strong excel skills required
