Senior Audit Manager - North East

Wilkinson & Associates is partnering with a progressive practice based in Edinburgh as they seek to hire an Audit Senior Manager.

The role will be responsible for providing a high standard of technical service to clients, ensuring accurate and timely delivery in line with client requirements.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the future growth of the firm, especially through the leading-edge opportunities arising for their area of specialism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage and control the delivery of all aspects of assignments, including engagement terms, staffing and budgets, scope creep and billing, client liaison between departments of the firm, and presentation of work to clients for both advisory and compliance services
  • Know clients well and be able to recognise significant issues in their circumstances or operations and consider the best possible recommendations for their solution
  • Establish yourself as a key business advisor and a primary contact for clients, their professional team and own business network, creating and obtaining referrals for work
  • Coach and support the team by sharing knowledge, identifying training needs and ensuring on the job training and development opportunities are actioned
  • Develop expertise and undertake complex technical research, with the ability to present concisely in in person or in written form, having due regard for risk
  • Be an ambassador for the firm and promote yourself and the business as experts in the marketplace, assisting with the marketing strategy as required
  • Play a lead role in the facilitation of strategic planning, seeking new opportunities for the firm and the project management of key initiatives firmwide
  • Conclude negotiations satisfactorily

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Accountancy qualification (e.g. ICAS, CA)
  • Expertise in technical compliance and advisory work
  • Experience of handling a client portfolio with strong client engagement
  • Experience of leadership, delegation and managing teams
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong communication skills – both written and oral
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and relevant software packages
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation and industry best practice
  • Strong commercial and market awareness
  • Good team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
  • Self-motivated, with an ability to develop ideas into practice
  • Ability to take ownership, use initiative to resolve problems and adapt to changes in the external environment
