Senior Audit Manager, Conduct Risk - Edinburgh

W&A is working with a retail bank in Edinburgh to help source a Senior Audit Manager in Conduct Risk.

This role can be based across London, Edinburgh or Gloucester and offers both flexible and hybrid working.

This role is well suited to an audit professional with an in-depth knowledge of conduct risk and the FCA Handbook.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong stakeholder relationship management skills to build on our approach to auditing conduct risk and influence 1st Line Management in improving the risk and control environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Audit Senior Leadership Team to develop a meaningful audit plan that considers conduct risk in all aspects of bank operations
  • Work alongside existing teams, to promote understanding of conduct risk and coach others in delivering these audits across your portfolio
  • Grow into a people leadership role, having the ambition to take the next step in their career as part of the Senior Leadership team
  • Expand knowledge of conduct risk throughout the department by delivering activities and training to support this

Required Skills & Experience:

  • A relevant audit qualification (IIA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Current experience responsible for delivering a portfolio of audits
  • A comprehensive understanding of retail banking and, in particular, the commercial realities of applying the FCA Handbook in practice
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in speaking to and writing for a wide and senior audience
  • Demonstrable relationship management capability, both in building good relationships that add value to the business and also the ability to land difficult messages
  • An ability to recognise the need for change and promote new ways of working, underpinned by experience of working in Internal Audit and a strong understanding of audit methodology, tools and techniques
  • A friendly, collaborative team working style, coupled with coaching skills to develop others
  • A track record in operational delivery, delivering the audit plan to time and quality standards
