W&A is delighted to be working with one of the UK’s top performing companies in Edinburgh. The brand has an exciting opportunity for a Central Finance Manager to join the business at a time of growth. 

The role is a key accounting position in the management reporting and providing financial control for the costs of the central functions. 

The jobholder will provide regular financial and business support to senior management, and be responsible for the work and development of an accounting assistant and the preparation of subsidiary statutory accounts.  

This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter with a desire to develop and succeed in a leading business. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsibility for timely and accurate preparation of the monthly management accounts for the central support functions, and related analyses versus forecast and budget 

  • Day-to-day supervision and development of a trainee accountant and a treasury assistant who provides services to the accounting team 

  • Preparation of forecasts and budgets for central support functions, and provision of finance business support to senior management budget owners 

  • Management of the accounting for group’s insurance policies and control over claim settlement payments 

  • Management of the recharging process of central support costs to subsidiary businesses 

  • Review of and approval of weekly payment runs for central support costs 

  • Providing assurance that accounting controls are operating in all central support areas, including monthly reviews of bank and other balance sheet reconciliations 

  • Preparation of monthly and year end banking and treasury journals for group reporting. 

  • Preparation of group’s international transfer pricing submissions 

  • Preparation of UK subsidiary statutory accounts to an auditable standard 

  • Leading liaison with external auditors in relation to a number of UK registered entities.  

  • Responsibility for the submission of timely and accurate regulatory returns, including UK VAT returns 

  • Participating in various ad hoc projects, including process and control improvement 

Required Skills & Abilities: 

  • A qualified chartered/certified accountant 

  • High level of drive and initiative with the ability to problem solve and think analytically 

  • Ability to communicate confidently and ability to build relationships with stakeholders 

  • Good organisational skills including the ability to effectively identify deadlines and prioritise work 

  • Excellent working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software and ideally experience of accounting and reporting systems
