Newly Qualified Accountant - Central Scotland

W&A is working with a specialist investment firm to help source an Assistant Finance Manager to join their experienced team.  

The role holder will have the opportunity to develop and progress by involvement in several commercial and strategic projects currently in progress across the business. These include capital raising; new funds and continual improvement of systems and processes while providing support to the senior finance team.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Contribute to the following key areas: financial planning and analysis; management accounting; stakeholder reporting; and statutory financial reporting 
• Prepare and analyse quarterly management accounts and associated investor reporting 
• Proactive contribution to ensuring robustness of control environment and providing support to evolving business 
• Supervision of finance team administrative tasks undertaken by finance associates  
• Be a point of contact with a range of advisers, such as auditors and tax advisers, to facilitate the preparation of group and subsidiary financial statements 
• Prepare the quarterly reporting to lenders, including monitoring and analysis of lending covenant positions 
• Prepare papers for regular reporting requirements to various stakeholders including Executive team, investors and client fund Boards 
• Benchmarking / competitor analysis 
• Coaching and oversight responsibility for finance associates in their delivery of a range of financial analysis and reporting 

Required Skills & Abilities: 

• Qualified CA/ACCA/CIMA 
• Experience of financial systems, including Sage accounting software would be advantageous 
• Excellent executive level report-writing skills or a desire to learn 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
• Commercially minded and have an excellent understanding of financial reporting  
• Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines 
• Track record of identifying and implementing improvement 
• Excellent attention to detail together with strong numeracy 
• Proven ability of working independently and contributing positively in a team  
• Comfortable working in a supportive feedback culture with an ambition to develop skills and experience
