Newly Qualified Accountant - Edinburgh

Wilkinson and Associates is partnering with a market leading bank based in Edinburgh. They have an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified accountant join their finance team. This role will be responsible for supporting Impairments reporting under IFRS9, involving delivery of the financial reporting and control of impairment P&L and Balance Sheet. The financial reporting and control responsibilities extend across credit provisions, impairment P&L and income recognition, and a variety of asset analysis and other disclosures.

This is a fascinating time to join the Group with the move to IFRS 9 and the current political and economic conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Play a fundamental role in achieving overall purpose of supporting the group through expertise, analysis & insight and control of impairments
• Work closely with other finance teams across the Group and build excellent working relationships thereon
• Supporting the month end close process
• Supporting the quarter end reporting processes
• Supporting a robust control environment, with a particular focus on SOX controls
• Involvement in operational and continuous improvement initiatives, which is a key focus for the team / Group

Required Attributes & Skills:

• Qualified Accountant (those at Finalist level with relevant experience will also be considered).
• Good knowledge of financial reporting and double-entry bookkeeping
• A keen eye for detail
• An analytical mind that can work with and manipulate and interpret large volumes of data
• Excellent communication skills
• Be a credible representative for the team and build excellent relationships with colleagues
