Wilkinson and Associates is partnering with a global asset management organisation based in Edinburgh. They have an exceptional opportunity for a newly qualified accountant to undertake the role of Financial Reporting & Controls Accountant.

This position will have responsibility for legal entity financial control and reporting across the UK for certain subsidiaries. The role involves managing all accounting, reporting and regulatory aspects of these entities, supporting specific reporting needs as they develop. This also involves managing and controlling all book-keeping entries and maintaining strong reconciliations over the ledger data.

The position requires an accountant qualified either by accounting qualifications or experience, with a proven track record of delivery. You will be required to maintain appropriate disciplines of self-review, analysing and interpreting financial information.

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and a team player who can build and deepen relationships. You should be comfortable working closely with colleagues in the function and across the wider team where relevant to ensure timely and accurate information is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On producing monthly results work closely with the UK Financial Reporting & Control Managers and accountants to prepare monthly commentaries, ensuring results are fully understood and represented. Prepare for and present at monthly review and challenge meetings with management, ensuring all material variances are fully explained and understood.
  • Ensure robust end to end process documentation is maintained for key accounting processes and deliver value add and efficiencies through insight and challenge in relation to your reporting responsibilities. 
  • Help to ensure that processes for internal recharges under Transfer Pricing are working in a compliant and efficient way.
  • Ensure timely identification and compliance with technical accounting changes relating to the UK, including preparation of papers for the Technical Review Committee
  • Ensure compliance with Group accounting policy, contributing to the development of policy changes as and when required.
  • Responsibility for the preparation of the relevant UK entity capital and dividend monitoring and planning

Required skills and attributes:
