Our client is looking for a contractor  to join their team for a period of 6-12 months.  The role is responsible for managing the delivery and execution of the Risk & Compliance Monitoring and Oversight Plan to high standards of quality and timeliness.  You will be responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of methodologies, procedures and standards in relation to the development and execution of components of the Risk & Compliance Monitoring & Oversight Plan.  

Purpose: 

Risk & Compliance Monitoring & Oversight

  • Supporting the Head of Monitoring & Oversight with the development and documentation of a global and integrated Risk & Compliance Monitoring & Oversight Plan using a defined and robust risk-based methodology. This will involve close coordination with regional Business Partnering teams, regulated role holders (e.g. designated Compliance Officers) and regionally aligned Monitoring & Oversight resources.
  • Supporting engagement with Internal Audit to ensure that there is a ‘joined up’ approach to delivering thematic reviews and regular testing.
  • Supporting the Head of Monitoring & Oversight in sourcing and managing appropriate co-sourcing arrangements with external suppliers to supplement the skill set as required.
  • Responsible for the delivery and execution of the Risk & Compliance Monitoring & Oversight Plan and associated tasks (e.g. coordination of fieldwork/analysis and report drafting). This will involve engaging and co-ordinating with regional Business Partnering teams and regionally aligned Monitoring & Oversight resources.
  • Responsible for ensuring that execution of the Risk & Compliance Monitoring & Oversight Plan meets appropriate standards of quality and timeliness.
  • Managing the delivery of special investigations / reviews that may arise from time to time, as requested by the Chief Operating Officer and other senior stakeholders.
  • Responsible for ensuring that where issues are identified appropriate mitigating actions are recommended to the business and tracked through to completion.
  • Liaising with the Risk & Compliance Business Partnering Teams with regards to emerging themes and review findings in order for these to be incorporated into the advice provided to the business.
  • Responsible for producing and maintaining appropriate monitoring, review and testing procedures and methodologies and ensuring that these are adhered to by the Monitoring & Oversight Team.

 

Contributing to Monitoring & Oversight team activities

  • Responsible for ensuring that the team has appropriate procedures and resources in order to deliver high quality services.
  • Ensuring that the team receive appropriate training and that the capabilities of the team continue to be developed in line with business needs.
  • Deputising for and supporting the Head of Monitoring & Oversight in meetings when required.
  • Responsible for the production of relevant management information.
  • Delegating appropriately and providing regular feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Promoting and encouraging a risk culture that underpins values and drives risk awareness and accountability within the business.
  • Supporting the wider R&C function in the delivery of functional activities where required and where appropriate. Detailed knowledge of financial reporting regulatory requirements and legislatory frameworks
  • Detailed knowledge, expertise and experience in reporting – IFRS and Solvency 2
  • Experience of dealing with complex transactions and associated accounting
  • Good knowledge of industry trends, best practice and developments, good networks / links with external bodies and individuals in the same field

 

Experience:

  • Experience of supporting the development and delivery of risk-based Risk & Compliance monitoring and oversight plans on a global basis.
  • Knowledge of Client Assets Sourcebook (CASS) preferable but not essential.
  • Extensive risk management and regulatory compliance knowledge within the asset management industry, including a good understanding of UK and other international regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging regulatory compliance ‘hot topics’ and emerging market trends, methods and tools in respect of monitoring & oversight.
  • Knowledge of the asset management industry and key developments.
  • Track record in delivering clear and concise written and oral communications.
  • Highly credible and proactive communicator who can engage internally and externally with presence and authority.
  • Experience of managing teams to deliver high-quality outputs to a high level of consistency within a demanding environment.
  • Proven ability to influence and deliver in a proactive and collaborative manner for the benefit of relevant stakeholders.
