IFRS 17 Accountant - Edinburgh

An exciting opportunity to join a leading financial services company as an IFRS 17 accountant based in Edinburgh city centre.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key Deliverables of the role include technical accounting papers on the application of IFRS 17 to the company, local reporting disclosure, policy documentation and presentation of technical accounting papers for approval at programme governance forums In addition, you will provide technical accounting input and output to enable data and modelling technical specifications to be developed; review and challenge IFRS17 impact assessments and review, test and challenge system solution outputs to ensure results comply with IFRS17 Our ideal applicant will have previous technical accounting or actuarial expertise on IFRS reporting and financial services accounting experience.
  • Experience in the implementation of new reporting requirements is also desirable.
  •  As an Accountant within the technical reporting workstream of the programme, you will be responsible for technical consideration of IFRS 17’s requirements and will support the definition and documentation of accounting policy decisions and detailed accounting disclosure requirements.  In addition, you will support the implementation of detailed methodology for change requirements to comply with IFRS17, and analysing and proposing solutions to accounting issues arising.

Qualifications:                                     

  • A detailed understanding of financial reporting, working for a professional firm or a financial services company detailed knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS) and experience of interpreting requirements and providing interpretation and proposed solutions from accounting issues experience of analysing the requirements of IFRS17 and 9 experience and skills in managing change, including rule interpretation and seeking solutions insurance experience, including product knowledge and the implications for actuarial reporting ability to drive financial strategic change and influence senior stakeholders on key accounting strategies strong working knowledge of reporting software and processes advanced Excel skills strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with senior members of staff team player who is able to work to tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
