Group Technical Accountant - Central Scotland

W&A is working with a specialist investment firm to help source a Group Technical Accountant to join their experienced team. 

Reporting to the Finance Director, the core responsibility of the role holder will be the initial production of all statutory accounts and associated consolidations for a variety of entities.  

This is a role requiring excellent technical and financial accounting skills, with proven organisational skills and a desire to maintain the highest level of expertise to ensure best practice is embedded and maintained across the Finance function.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Consolidation of group results – income statement, balance sheet and cashflow statements, including other reporting requirements (quarterly requirements as well as annual statutory obligations) 
• Preparation of all individual company statutory annual accounts 
• Responsibility for intercompany accounting activities 
• Provide operational advice and expertise to the wider Finance team on consolidation, reporting and other issues to improve operational efficiency and information exchange 
• Liaise with the external auditors on requested deliverables and on issues arising during the statutory reporting process, including interims 
• Responsibility for preparing journals and managing the consolidation entries within the finance system 
• Responsibility for owning the suite of reports and ensuring changes are captured as new entities are established 
• Maintain the timetable of statutory deliverables 
• Contribute to ad-hoc projects / tasks as required 

Required Skills & Attributes: 

• Qualified CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA 
• Experience of financial systems, including Sage accounting software, would be preferable 
• Experience of a similar role involving a Group structure would be advantageous 
• High level of technical competency in both consolidation accounting and statutory reporting 
• Strong interpersonal skills; proactively resolve questions and issues with internal and external stakeholders, including both non-property and non-finance individuals/teams 
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail 
• Evidence of delivering a high standard of work 
• Clear communication skills regarding the status of key deliverables, being comfortable communicating at all levels 
• Proven ability of working independently and contributing positively in a team environment 
• Competent user of Microsoft office.
