Finance Manager - Glasgow / Western central belt

W&A is working with a growing e-commerce business based in Glasgow to help source a Finance Manager. The business has international reach and global operations and is experiencing year-on-year growth.  

This role involves a blend of office and home working, and our client is open to staffing the position on either a part-time or full-time basis.  

This role will be responsible for creating, implementing and monitoring the financial strategy. Additionally, the successful candidate will use the eCommerce data, lead all aspects of commercial financial analysis including but not limited to assessing the impact of price changes, advertising strategy changes and product development.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Create and monitor internal processes and controls making suggested improvements  

  • Financial scenario planning linked to sales forecasting 

  • Summarise and present findings to the senior team to agree process and operational changes 

  • Monitor trading and operational performance metrics, identify changes quickly and develop solutions and improvements  

  • Responsible for the day to day financial management of the business and finance function, including but not limited to:  

  • Preparing monthly budgets and monitoring budgets against actual performance 

  • Providing commentary on variances 

  • Providing insightful MI and commentary on the performance of each element of the business 

  • Preparing cash flow forecasts and monitoring to actual 

  • Monitor capital expenditure 

  • Statutory reporting and liaising with external auditors at year end 

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts on a timely basis, including calculation and posting of month end prepayments, accruals, depreciation and reconciliations 

  • Sales and purchase invoice processing and debtors  

  • Authorising and processing payments runs, dealing with supplier queries and ensuring control accounts are maintained 

  • Primary point of contact for the bank 

  • Preparation and submission of Tax and VAT returns, including being the main point of contact for overseas tax collection 

Required Skills & Abilities: 

  • Qualified accountant  

  • Supervisory / team management experience 

  • Previous experience of creating and installing finance processes 

  • Proven in creating insightful management and board packs 

  • Numerate with proven financial analysis experience 

  • A desire to upskill in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics tools, with a view to harnessing the data available and creating financial insight thereon 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Take initiative and ownership of tasks with the ability to work with little supervision
