Finance Manager - Edinburgh

£40,000 - £50,000 - Financial Services - Qualified Accountancy & Finance

Wilkinson & Associates is working with an alternative lender in Edinburgh to help source a Finance Manager. Our client is a forward-looking and supportive employer with a flexible working model.

This is a highly commercial role where the jobholder will be exposed to all aspects of the finance remit. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Finance Manager will be deeply involved in the operational delivery of the lending programme and financial governance.

This is an excellent opportunity for an open-minded and energetic individual to gain a variety of experience in a fast-paced and rewarding environment. The position forms part of a small finance team where the jobholder will support and work very closely with a vastly experienced Finance Director and Group Financial Controller, therefore it's an excellent platform to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing budgets, performance metric targets and treasury management that will support the business's growth and financial governance
  • Assist in the issuance of financial information/analysis and collation of statutory and management accounts, investor and fund reporting information
  • Assist in the management of accounting, tax and treasury
  • Work with Group FC to manage outsourced administrators for lending entities
  • Manage third parties to which accounting, or finance functions have been outsourced
  • Oversee the company's transaction processing systems
  • Work to mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
  • Help ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
  • Monitor bank account balances, cash forecasts and coordinate complex funding needs with funding partners
  • Work with diverse external stakeholders including outsource corporate service providers, investors and advisors’ relationships

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Relevant financial services sector and/or property development experience ideal
  • Audit or accounts preparation/advisory experience, with hands on practical operational accounting experience
  • Experience of preparing IFRS and consolidated financial statements would be desirable but not essential
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communications skills with the ability to act as a credible external representative to third parties
  • Strong MS excel skills and a desire to upskill further in other tools such as PowerBI
  • Can do attitude with a willingness to push the boundaries of the finance remit
  • Ability to hold a varied and growing role as part of a small team
