Wilkinson & Associates is partnering with a well-known retail bank headquartered in Edinburgh to source a Decision Support Finance Analyst to join their Finance team.

The successful candidate will provide the analysis and financial information required to support the product teams. Additionally, the role is responsible for ensuring the preparation of reliable, challenging and timely financial plans to support business planning, decision making and providing financial analysis for business cases and ad-hoc papers.

The role is ideally pitched at candidates who are newly qualified accountants but if you are soon-to-be qualified or have some post-qualified experience already, we're keen to hear from you too!

This is an excellent role for an analytical-minded individual to grow and develop in an established organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the co-ordination and driving forward of the budgeting and forecast process for designated products, with a view to understanding key issues and opportunities, through analysis of trends and other MI available, to deliver realistic and balanced outputs
  • Completing all financial modelling required and populate templates within agreed timescales aiding the challenge of product and business assumptions
  • Assisting in providing financial support and challenge on current and future business areas, including appropriate ledger forensic analysis to ensure accuracy of financial information, completing month end P&L reviews, preparation of regular NPV data and updating of Management Committee papers for the relevant Product areas
  • Assisting in communication of risks and opportunities to full year out turn projections
  • Maintaining models to assist the business in measuring impact of changes to the budgeted balance sheet and P&L positions
  • Working with other team members to develop commercial insight to enhance robust scenario modelling and accurately prepare/present scenario output
  • Assisting in stress testing of designated products to determine capital impact for production of Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process and Individual Liquidity Adequacy Assessment
  • Maintaining existing models and developing new models to provide Finance Managers with financial information, to assist in strategic or pricing decisions and any business cases

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Soon-to-be or recently professionally qualified accountant
  • Applicants having trained in both practice and industry are encouraged to apply
  • Good communication skills with the ability to present to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong MS Excel skills to Pivot table, Lookups and IF level.
  • Well-organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Be a customer-focussed team player with ability to work closely with others to deliver results quickly
