Enterprise Risk Manager - Edinburgh

Wilkinson & Associates is partnering with an asset management organisation in Edinburgh to help source an Enterprise Risk Manager.

This role will be responsible for supporting day to day activities of the team to ensure that risks are identified, assessed and business responses are appropriate. The successful candidate will be required to take ownership for driving risk solutions and support international colleagues to ensure risk-based oversight remains appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage risk event work flows, ensuring they are appropriately sized, issues and actions are robust and escalated in line with the Governance framework
  • Oversee, and supplement where necessary, root cause analysis on material risk events and near misses, ensuring the business take necessary action to prevent reoccurrence
  • Represent the team in forums, typically control committees, ensuring promotion of the risk culture, and focus on emerging risks and risk/control maintenance
  • Develop a deep understanding of activity within the business areas you oversee to support effective business partnering, oversight and challenge of Risk Control Self Assessments, and delivery of the ERM plan
  • Deliver the control monitoring over Operations, Change and Third-Party key controls, working with the Controls & MI team to ensure testing is to an appropriate standard and demonstrate control effectiveness
  • Contribute as required to framework development to ensure the Enterprise Risk team operate with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Support and advise the business areas with ad-hoc risk management concerns or queries revisiting risk profile as appropriate

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong and relevant work experience in the investment management industry or equivalent professional experience (A strong understanding of investment back-office processes desired)
  • Ability to manage multiple risk activities with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written / oral communication skills and ability to interact at all levels within the firm
  • Ability to form close working relationships across the business teams for which you are responsible for oversight
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally desirable
