Wilkinson & Associates is partnering with a large legal firm headquartered in Scotland to help source a Decision Support Manager. This opportunity can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow but remote working is also possible with occasional travel to other offices.

Reporting to the Financial Controller this role will support the relevant Practice Area within the firm drive forward and attain its strategic and performance goals from a financial perspective. The role will provide accurate and timely financial support and analysis, act as a trusted adviser, adding value and being a key stakeholder in financial decision making.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified accountant to be a catalyst for change and drive forward financial plans to ensure the best possible outcome.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation / Collation of: key relevant MI for the Practice Area, ad hoc reporting for senior management of Practice Area
  • Contributing to the creation and management of annual budgets for the Practice Area
  • Key participant in developing strategic plans for the Practice Area
  • Using the Business Information system to maximise commercial advantages for the Practice Area
  • Financial input and due diligence for all project work for the Practice Area
  • Providing financial support to designated Practice Area Lead and partners including attendance at Practice Area Board meetings
  • Always looking for opportunities to improve the financial performance the Practice Area
  • Creating an environment that fosters transparency and change in the Practice Area
  • Be aware of information security policies, and protect information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times
  • Detailed knowledge of legal finances is not essential, but vital to get into the detail and hold colleagues to account over areas such as fee income collection and management of client work from a financial perspective

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Post qualified accountant with commercial experience
  • Experience of a professional services environment preferred but not essential
  • Ability to understand the audience and deliver information in a clear and user-friendly manner is essential as well as being comfortable being robust in challenging situations
  • Computer literate – particularly Excel, Word and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent at data production, analysis and financial reporting
  • Strive for excellence and forward thinking
  • An ability to develop excellent business relationships at all levels and functions
  • Able to juggle and prioritise work under pressure, working to deadlines
  • Methodical and accurate in approach
