Consolidation Accountant - Edinburgh

W&A is working with an asset management organisation to help source a Consolidation Accountant to join their Group Reporting team.  

The role will involve a blend of home based and office working from their Edinburgh office or potentially remotely from one of their other office locations.   

The primary focus of the role will be supporting the production and analysis of the group’s external reporting to the market.  

Reporting to the group IFRS Consolidation Manager, this is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic accountant to experience financial and regulatory reporting within a group function. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Preparation of the group’s consolidated IFRS results, including review of inputs and posting of eliminations and consolidation adjustments 

  • Support the preparation of the group’s Solvency II consolidated balance sheet and reporting 

  • Support the group consolidation system and change processes in relation to IFRS reporting requirements 

  • Contribute to the response to ad-hoc requests from external parties  

  • Support the delivery of finance change projects that impact on the consolidation process, including user acceptance testing of any changes 

  • Support the delivery of initiatives required to ensure group reporting processes meet all reporting and control requirements  

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships within finance and the wider finance community 

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customer outcomes and a reduction in operational risk 

Required Skills & Abilities:  

  • Qualified accountant with a strong knowledge of financial reporting / external audit 

  • Knowledge, expertise and experience in reporting and consolidation experience would be advantageous 

  • Previous experience of dealing with a large business, high-volume of transactions and the complexity of accounting that can bring is highly advantageous 

  • Highly analytical and skilled problem solver, with a strong commercial mind-set, and the ability to distil complex ideas or problems into simple plans or solutions 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence effectively  

  • Ability to assess, react quickly and decisively to problems, taking tough decisions where needed or escalating issues as appropriate
