Wilkinson & Associates is working with a global financial services organisation based in Edinburgh. They have an opportunity for a Commercial Finance Analyst to join their finance function.

Reporting to the Senior Commercial Business Analyst this role is responsible for the oversight of Trading and Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis for the organisations Savings and Investment channels. You will also be supporting building a culture of high performance and financial capabilities to drive commercial decision making in business. Furthermore, you will be point of contact for all financial performance issues for the business and develop a culture of simplicity and automation.

The ideal candidate should have strong relationship management and influencing skills in order to develop solid relationships with all Executive team and key leaders in finance, building confidence in the team. Additionally you should actively give strategic input as a member of the Commercial Finance team, contributing knowledge, ideas and views to make improvements and take both the function and organisation forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To primary purpose of the role is to drive business profitability through in depth trading and financial analysis and ensure proactive management of Senior Management in financial decision making
  • Support, challenge and work with senior business stakeholders and Commercial Business Partner to develop, implement, and run the sales incentive scheme for the organisations channels
  • Lead and develop improved MI and data solutions through influencing the Commercial Finance MI and Data Management team to increase efficiency, and improved insight in reporting
  • Working alongside the Commercial Business Partner and Senior Business Analyst to, lead, shape and coordinate the Financial Planning, Forecasting, Reporting and Analysis for various channels.
  • Development of a profitability model to support business decision making for example, building weekly commercial trading dashboard which tracks business performance that informs financial performance before it happens
  • The role is key in the planning cycle and the resulting financial management of cost base resources applied to meeting the organisations objectives
  • Support thorough and well-informed risk management by identifying financial and accounting changes which pose risks to the business’s strategy

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Newly / recently qualified (or soon-to-be qualified) accountant
  • Ability to work at senior level within an organisation with proven track record in managing operational processes within finance functions and influencing stakeholders at senior management level
  • Proven track record in managing / analysing financial performance and considerable experience working with large and complex data sets
  • In depth understanding of performance measurement methodologies
  • Ability to translate financial results into action plans, engaging leadership to drive change
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
