Wilkinson & Associates is partnering with a retail bank headquartered in Edinburgh, seeking to hire a Financial Crime and Credit Auditor.

As a key part of the team, the role holder will work closely with senior audit colleagues to deliver the audit plan, especially related to Credit or Financial Crime risks.  The successful candidate will engage with stakeholders and use knowledge to provide insights and promote improvements in the bank’s risk and control environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who wants to develop their professional career in Internal Audit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop auditing capabilities and be able to lead and deliver audits to time, quality, and budget
  • Be innovative, taking an interest in and supporting partners in embedding the understanding of key controls, helping deliver against the IIA standards and the Financial Services Code
  • Grow specialist knowledge and be recognised inside and outside the department for your expert insight
  • Help shape the audit annual plan
  • Display accountable behaviours and values

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • An understanding of the retail banking sector and the challenges faced by mid-tier and challenger banks
  • An appreciation and understanding of the importance of working in a regulatory environment and an ability to keep up to date with the changing regulatory landscape
  • A critical thinker who has the confidence to challenge others to think differently
  • A positive, collaborative team player with a growth mindset
  • Risk and control experience, and experience in Credit or Financial Crime risks advantageous
  • Strong planning and organisational skills enabling delivery of multiple tasks to timelines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience of producing high quality outputs; excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent at communicating and building relationships with internal stakeholders during audit and non-audit interactions
  • Experience of working with the outputs of data analytics and data visualisation tools
  • Audit or Risk assurance qualifications, advantageous but not essential
  • Experience of using Agile project management principles and ways of working beneficial
