Wilkinson and Associates is partnering with a global banking group based in Edinburgh. They have an exciting and challenging opportunity join the group as an Assistant Tax Manager.

You’ll be responsible for providing support to Senior Managers and the Head of Compliance, supporting projects and transactions in addition to day-to-day tasks. The role will involve managing historic tax positions and live enquiries with HMRC.

Within the Group Tax function, you will have shared responsibility for managing the group’s tax affairs, ensuring that the tax consequences of all transactions are understood and reflected accurately and appropriately in the group’s financial reports and in statutory tax filings.

The position requires a delivery focused mind set and a willingness to invest in your own development and that of the wider team. The successful candidate will focus on continuous improvement and identify efficiencies and better ways of working. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified accountant to gain exposure to the responsibilities and management of the banks tax affairs. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning for the deliverables of the team with responsibility for providing the tax support for specific areas of the groups business
  • Building up in-depth knowledge of the business and manage a network of contacts and stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Prioritising your workload and be a committed team player, working collaboratively with the other specialist teams in Group Tax and across the wider finance team

Required skills and attributes:

  • Newly / post-qualified accountant and / or chartered tax advisor (such as ATT/CTA)
  • Relevant and current corporation tax technical experience / accounting standards under IFRS are essential to this role
  • Strong analytical, systems and interpretative skills.
  • First class planning & organisational skills
