Wilkinson & Associates are working with a highly regarded business with a notable profile on the international stage. Based on the outskirts of Edinburgh, our client has continued to increase market share over the last few years and due to continued growth they are looking to add a Finance Business Partner to join their finance function and undertake a varied commercial finance role.
If you're interested in a multi-faceted business this role will give you fantastic exposure to many operational areas, whilst working for a very forward thinking and progressive finance function with venture capital backers.
This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates keen to make an impact at the decision making level and the position has a good blend of hands-on financial analysis and partnering with non-finance stakeholders. You will become the financial subject matter expert and sounding board for the aligned business areas. The hiring manager is willing to invest time and resources in the successful applicant with a view to increasing the remit and responsibilities over time. The finance function have a proven track record of internal mobility and providing opportunity for those that seek it.
This role is ideally suited to a recently qualified accountant making their first or second move post qualifying.
Summary of the role profile:
*Primarily responsible for partnering with two key business areas and supporting them through the full management accounts process
*Identifying underlying causes for variances from budgets and forecasts and supporting in developing corrective actions to ensure financial targets can be achieved
*Monitoring and analysing monthly financial performance
*Providing insightful comment on financial performance for the Executive team and the Board.
*Providing insightful analysis, interpretation and explanation of trends and variances across the business
*Supporting business in building the annual budget and challenging on expected levels of future revenue and costs
*Preparing quarterly re-forecasts
*Supporting in the future strategic direction of the business through assisting in the production of 5 year financial plans
To be considered for the role you must be a qualified accountant. You must be ambitious, proactive, confident and be an effective team player. You must be willing and able to operate at both the strategic and 'hands-on' level and be comfortable with a workload that reflects both levels. You must be able to demonstrate an awareness of the bigger picture and where / when / how you've utilised your commercial acumen in the past.
