The purpose of this questionnaire is to provide the newly and recently qualified accountant (NQ) market with insight into the career paths, remits, mind-set and opinions of industry experts. The aim is to ensure these candidates are in receipt of the best possible advice and that they’re fully aware of the options available to them. In our experience some candidates at this level can quickly form inaccurate perceptions of certain roles / functions and often opt for the more ‘popular’ routes based on what their peer group and / or Managers and mentors suggest.

Towards the end of last year, David Cameron announced plans to tackle recruitment bias in the fight to support equality in the workplace. Ten big British employers in both the public and private sectors have signed up to an agreement to start recruiting on a “name-blind” basis – those drawing up short lists of candidates will be unable to see the names of the candidates in an effort to stop unconscious bias against potential employees from black and ethnic minorities.
