As part of the continuing development of Wilkinson & Associates’ Business Change function, we have been speaking with many of the key decision makers in the world of Change Management. Throughout those discussions, one recurring theme seems prevalent; the desire amongst Change Management experts to see an appreciation of the professionalism of Change Management disciplines in the workplace by key business stakeholders. This is not to suggest that Change Management as a discipline in itself is ignored or dismissed in terms of its importance or relevance. Last Thursday evening Wilkinson & Associates went along to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre to support the annual SportsQuest Dinner. This superb night, now in its 14th year, is one of the highlights in the entertainment calendar. It’s based around a sports quiz, with teams of ten competing to be champions by demonstrating their knowledge of sport through four rounds of questions. The standard is high and with 2012 being such an unforgettable year (Ryder Cup, European Championships, Olympics, Tour de France to name but a few), there was a lot to get through.

Whether you are For or Against it, Scottish Independence remains a topic close to the heart of many who reside north of the border. There continues to be healthy debate on the subject and a host of friendly discussions, and no doubt occasionally fierce arguments, around tables in boardrooms, pubs and homes as to why Scotland should stand alone or remain part of the union. Many hold a strong opinion on the matter and the fact remains that the outcome of the impending referendum, whatever the decision, could change the future of the nation forever. As such it is becoming a serious consideration in decision making for both employers and employees as they look at their personal lives and careers.
